Cardiology

Contrast echocardiography

Contrast echocardiography is a specialised heart examination used to improve heart imaging in people with poor image quality – difficulty echocardiography windows (e.g., patients with chronic pulmonary diseases, obesities, structural chest variations, and so on).

The examination is based on IV administration of a contrast agent and lasts for a few minutes. It is a safe, routine examination with a documented safety/effectiveness profile. Contrast agents used are not similar to those of other imaging methods (e.g., axial or magnetic resonance tomography), have no undesirable side effects on kidney functions and the likelihood of a possible allergic reaction is exceptionally rare.
